In June of 1922, a commission to organize a new church in the West Park community was submitted to Reverend D. R. Shaw by Reverend H. G. Bailey of Antioch Baptist Church. In 1923, the first project was the purchase of land on which the present Strowder Hall stands. More than $500 was raised toward a building fund, The first phase of the building project was launched in 1924/25.

Pastor Dr. Kito D. March
Pastor Kito March, Sr. united with Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in February 2017 as its 7th pastor, succeeding Pastor Emeritus Roland H. Crowder.
Pastor Dr. Roland H. Crowder
Pastor Crowder has served as pastor of Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church since 1966. He retired in 2014, after 48 years of service.
Reverend Bryant
In 1927, Reverend Shaw resigned as pastor before construction began. Reverend Bryant was called as Pastor, and construction began. Reverend Bryant served as Pastor for one year.Â
Reverend W. J. Garrett & J. W. Marshall
In 1950, Reverend W. J. Garrett was installed as the 4th pastor of Second Calvary. He resigned in 1963 and Reverend J. W. Marshall was called as Pastor.
